One Day, One Stitch Crochet Tote

A FREE crochet pattern using double strands of Acrylic DK yarn which will crochet up quickly. This pattern is suitable for beginners, using single crochet stitch only.

Materials

  • Acrylic DK Yarn (2 balls)
  • 10mm Crochet Hook
  • Stitch Markers
  • Yarn Needle

Abbreviations

  • CH = Chain
  • SC = Single Crochet
  • ST(S) – Stitches

This tote bag is knitted in the round, using two strands of yarn together. Use a stich marker in the first stitch at the beginning of each round. As you complete a round, move the stitch marker up.

Colour options: Use two different coloured for a textured look. Change the yarn colour on some of the rounds to create a stripe/s. Crochet the bottom half in one colour, and the top half in another.

Foundation Row: Using two strands of yarn together, ch2 

Row 1: 6 sc in first ch. Place stitch marker in first st to mark beginning of round 

Row 2: 2 sc in each st (Count: 12 sts). Move marker up each time a round is completed 

Row 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; repeat from * around. (Count: 18 sts) 

Row 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; repeat from * around. (Count: 24 sts) 

Row 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts; repeat from * around. (Count: 30 sts) 

Row 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts; repeat from * around. (Count: 36 sts) 

Row 7: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts; repeat from * around. (Count: 42 sts) 

Row 8: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts; repeat from * around. (Count: 48 sts) 

Row 9: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 7 sts; repeat from * around. (Count: 54 sts) 

Row 10: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 8 sts; repeat from * around. (Count: 60 sts) 

Row 11-33: sc into each st around 

Row 34 (Handles): Sc in first 10 sts, ch 15, skip next 10 sts, sc in next 20 sts, ch 15, skip next 10 sts, sc in last 10 sts.   

Row 35-37: Sc into each st around 

Row 38: Sc in each st around   

To Finish: Fasten off. Weave ends
