Gimp Braid 8mm #02 Silver Grey
Gimp braid is a narrow ornamental trim used to finish off raw edges or cover staples in upholstery. It can also be used to add trim contrast to soft furnishings or sewing projects.

Can be glued, sewn or tacked into place depending on your project. See below for application tips.

How to apply gimp braid - Hot Glue Gun

  1. Heat up a hot-glue gun with a fabric rated glue stick.
  2. Dab a small amount of hot-glue onto end of gimp braid, fold and press edge over. This is to tidy up the frayed edge. 
  3. Apply small lines of glue onto the chair, and stick the gimp braid on. 
  4. At the end, fold over the frayed edge of braid, and fold under with glue. 

How to apply gimp braid - Contact adhesive 

  1. Open a small tube of contact adhesive.
  2. Dab a small amount of adhesive onto end of gimp braid, fold and press edge over. This is to tidy up the frayed edge. 
  3. Apply small lines of glue onto chair and onto back of gimp braid. Wait for 15-30 seconds for it to go tacky before pressing into place.
  4. At the end, fold over the frayed edge of braid, and fold under with glue. 

How to apply gimp braid - Gimp Pins 

  1. Fold end of gimp braid over.
  2. With your finger, press a small gimp pin into position to hold end of gimp in place. 
  3. Use a tack hammer to drive the gimp pin home. 
  4. Continue placing gimp pins in intervals along the braid.
  5. At the end, fold over the frayed edge of braid and hold in place with another gimp pin.
