

Ways to apply gimp braid

Hot Glue Gun
Hot Glue GunsHeat up a hot-glue gun with a fabric rated glue stick.
Dab a small amount of hot-glue onto end of gimp braid, fold and press edge over. This is to tidy up the frayed edge.
Apply small lines of glue onto the chair, and stick the gimp braid on.
At the end, fold over the frayed edge of braid, and fold under with glue. -
Fabric Adhesive
Fabric AdhesiveUse fabric glue or contact adhesive. Dab a small amount of glue on the end of the braid, fold and press edge over to tidy the frayed edge. Apply a line of glue onto the chair and stick the gimp braid on. At the end, glue and fold the end. It is common practice to hammer in a small gimp pin or chair nail at the start and finish of the braid.

Gimp Pins
Gimp PinsFold the end of gimp braid over and press a gimp pin through the braid and into position. Hold it with needle nose pliers while you drive it home with a tack hammer. Use a ruler to evenly place the gimp pins in intervals along the braid. At the end, fold over the frayed edge of braid and hold in place with another gimp pin. Â

Chair NailsFold the end of gimp braid over and press a domed chair nail through the gimp and into position. Hold it with needle nose pliers while you drive it home with a tack hammer. Use a ruler or space setter to evenly place the pins/nails in intervals along the braid. At the end, fold over the frayed edge of braid and hold in place with another chair nail. Â
