Gimp braid is a decorative trim that adds a touch of elegance to your sewing and upholstery projects. Supplied by the meter, it's perfect for hiding unsightly staples and finishing raw edges on your upholstery. You can use it to create a beautiful contrast on cushions, curtains, and other soft furnishings.
Gimp braid is easy to use and can be applied in a variety of ways. You can glue it in place with fabric glue, sew it on with a sewing machine or by hand, or tack it in place with small nails called gimp pins. You can also use decorative domed chair nails for extra bling. If using it for covering staples or tacks, select a braid wide enough to cover them all. Stapling in a straight line is also helpful!
If you're using gimp braid to cover raw edges, simply fold and glue the end of the braid over, and glue or sew the braid in place. If you're using it to add contrast, try experimenting with different widths and colours to find the perfect combination for your project.
Whether you're a seasoned upholsterer, sewer or crafter or just starting out, gimp braid is a versatile and easy-to-use trim that will add a touch of sophistication to any project.
